At meQ, the newly formed Design Practice is responsible for leading the organization in delivering best-in-class, mental-health and workplace wellbeing products and services.
About the Job: The Senior Design Researcher is an essential design team role positioned to transform the experience, value, and effectiveness of meQ product and service offerings by leading ongoing research throughout the product lifecycle.
You’ll uncover end-user, product, and business needs and insights by conducting and coordinating formative and summative research studies such as field observations, interviews, co-design workshops, diary studies, usability, acceptability, and desirability studies, surveys, card sorts, tree tests, and behavioral analyses.
Critical to success in this role is the ability to empathize and collaborate with cross-functional departments and stakeholders to define the right research questions, employ the right methods, analyze and present findings that can empower product and business decision-making across any and all current and yet to be imagined member and customer facing touchpoints and modes of delivery.
Senior Design Researchers should have 5+ years of experience and have contributed to multiple shipped projects and solutions.
Having a seasoned understanding of digital (mental) health and wellbeing technologies, workplace performance, learning & development, and behavior change interventions, will be a huge advantage in this role.
Primary Responsibilities: Partner with the Chief Design Officer and Design Research team to define and establish meQ Design Research practice, operations, and methodologies. Includes establishing research best practices and standard operating procedures for designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting of research.
Select relevant research tools for conducting studies and creating a shared centralized repository of insights and body of knowledge to be used across departments.
Help develop efficient and sustainable member and customer research participant pools to enable continuous qualitative and quantitative research studies across products, populations, problems, and opportunities.
Partner with cross-functional teams to define the most important research questions, scope and conduct research to address those, and identify the most relevant and actionable insights.
Manage external recruitment and research partners and vendors and maintain relationships with research platform reps and support staff.
Contribute to generative design and ideation sessions such as co-creation / design workshops with end-users, customers, internal stakeholders, and project teams.
Support behavior change and product efficacy goals through literature reviews, behavioral analyses, and through integrating behavioral science theories and frameworks with UX research methods.
Collaborate with product analytics and data science teams to design studies that uncover the ‘why’ behind behavioral data.
Serve as a human-centered design SME, active voice, and advocate for end-users across the organization. Communicate persuasively and passionately about the value of the discipline and demonstrate the impact of research on member health, wellbeing, and business objectives.
Collaborate with and inspire others in the Design practice, keeping up with the industry evolution including best practices, research methods, insights, trends, and tools.
Proactively identify and share out opportunities to improve our existing products and envision net new blue sky opportunities grounded in both research and creative ingenuity.

Our headquarters are based in Boston. There will be times when travel to the Boston office is necessary for team meetings or training. Must be able to work east coast hours.
