HOMER has a newly created opportunity for a Senior Product Designer to join our growing team! This role will report into our New York City office (upon re-opening, currently remote) or be located remotely in select locations (Toronto or LA), but operate on EST.

Reporting into our Senior Director of Product Design, the Senior Product Designer will be a coach/player role and responsible for the output of Monetization work on the Growth Web Squad, which will include introducing new products in market, price testing and launching new methods of e-Commerce.
This role will also manage the work of two designers on our Conversion and Parent Activation/Retention Squads. This role will also help to build out a web design system.
This role will contribute to a strong design team culture and a thriving product design practice at HOMER, partnering with the Director of Product Design to create relevant, structured design processes. This role will also inspire design solutions that are user-centric, research backed (where appropriate), while also being mindful of the business needs.
The role will contribute to highly scalable design processes that support the growing velocity of HOMER’s tech teams, champion our design standards, and own design execution across our products.
You will: * Create on brand Product Design work relevant to Monetization, price testing, introducing new plans in market and strategize around e-Commerce approaches * Contribute to a thriving Product Design culture at HOMER, including driving a strong sense of cohesion and collaboration across the design team. * Consider market context, industry and competitor trends, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability in your output of work. * Partner with UX Research to contribute to the strategy of the digital products you manage through both qualitative and quantitative studies (field observations, customer interviews, play testing/usability studies and surveys). * Drive UX Research behind work to determine the best solutions and iterate on these solutions, resulting in user flows, wireframes, sitemaps, prototypes, and low-fidelity sketches. * Encourage a creative process and design culture of curiosity and openness that knows when to explore broadly, but is attentive to details. * Communicate design principles, frameworks and provide direction where needed to your focused team and lead the team in best practices. * Mentor designers that report to you while being a leader as well to other team members. * Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Content, Marketing and Data) to deliver a consistent and high quality experience across multiple products. * Work on partnered solutions for efficiencies of scale throughout Product and Engineering teams. This includes developing the framework and ultimate evolution of a robust, effective design system for relevant digital products. * Evolve the product roadmap by expressing input in strategy conversations with product management.
Must Haves: * At least 4+ years of product design experience with consumer-facing products. * At least 1 year managing multiple designers * Experience navigating process and strategy in product design and development. * A distinctive portfolio of work that demonstrates a strong understanding of user-centered design and a deep understanding of UI/UX best practices on web and mobile. * Deep acumen with design systems, tools, processes and best practices * Proven effectiveness partnering with engineering organizations to deliver best-in-class design-intensive product experiences. * Excellent communication skills with the capacity to create alignment across multiple creative teams, marketing, product and engineering. * Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with getting features and products out the door. * Strong knowledge of prototyping, user testing and research, validated learning, A/B testing and agile development practices. * A passion for HOMER’s mission.
Nice-to-Haves: * Experience in designing children’s media / product or games. * Experience with e-commerce design or A/B testing/conversion design experience * Understanding of children’s learning processes and approaches. * Experience in designing for different audiences within and across multiple products under one brand. * Experience in designing purchase flows and conversion funnels. * A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UI Design, or a related field.
